  • This is the table I want. This wonderful table can be found at Crate and Barrel for $1699.00.  We have no Crate and Barrel in our area, so it is another $250 for shipping.  So this lovely drop leaf extension table will be $1949.00 to get it to my house (of course we could drive over 2 hours to Boston and get it, but that's not exactly convieniant).Of course we don't have that much money kicking around either.

And we do have a dining room table.  A lovely little thing my parents let me have when I moved out.  It's an antique.  It seats 4 comfortably and 6 if you like each other.  But right now...it looks like this.  Why? You may ask. Because it is old and the screws are falling out and so the leaf is loose.  So we flipped it over and T doesn't have the right screws to fix it.  So it is staying upside down on its new blue, green and yellow table cloth.  And I am shopping online for things we can't afford.

But I have found another that I like.  And it is made here in Vermont.  But we don't know how much they are yet. They come in different sizes, woods and legs.  I would like one with round ends, but they don't seem to make one here. And if they aren't too expensive, I might get this cabinet too.But I think we might hold off on chairs for a while, we have some mismatched ones that will do for now. But I like the Vermont Mission and Vermont Country Chairs.  It gives new meaning to "Windows Shopping."  See you all later!

  • The one on the top is sorta like the one I want from Ethan Allen. Not happenin' any time soon!! But I went to an unfinsihed furniture place in town, and was talking to the guy there who said to bring in a photo of what I wanted. He has a guy that makes some great looking knock offs. Maybe when I get around to furnishing my dining room, I'll see if he has references, LOL!

Ahhh, so you're Dawn! You look like a Dawn to me!

  • Hey...thanks for taking me shopping.  I do so love a corner cabinet!  You had me drooling!

  • hey,

i found the SBC speech when i was looking for inspirational quotes or something... wow, that post was a long while ago.. how did you find my xanga?

  • Wouldn't it be nice to be in the position to buy what you like, when you like it with no reservations?      *big sigh*          I hope you will be able to find what you like and not have to settle. Good luck!

I do like the upsidedown look.    Seriously, I think some of the best, most inviting homes have a mixture of old and new decor. In my mind, eclectic works. Good thing--cuz I can't afford anything else.

  • Bears a strong resemblance to my old teak table. I suggest you take a look at used furniture shops for TEAK!!
