  • I am Strength

Strength represents patience and compassion. Getting angry is easy when events turn sour, but dealing calmly with frustration takes great strength. So does accepting others and forgiving mistakes. We need strength to mold situations softly. The Chariot controls through mastery and authority. Card 8 is more subtle, even loving. Notice how the lion (itself a symbol of strength) is being guided and tamed by the woman's gentle hands.

  • i gotta tell you.  i don't mind these 3 day weeks.  due to MLK day and an inservice, we only have 3 days this week.  last week i had a training tuesday and a snow day friday and the week before we had a snow day monday and my training tuesday.  next week is going to be a killer.  my first full week since before christmas!

  • Today the state of Vermont sees fit to give us a day off in celebration of the birth of Martin Luther King Jr.  We at our "all white" elementary school (we have 1 biracial child who is being raised in an all white home) spent some time for the last week or so reading about and creating artwork on the civil rights movement.  I am proud of the multicultural education we are trying to give our students in the midst of our monocultural environment.

Those of you who live in multicultural communities may never understand what it is like to never have a friend of another race, simply because there aren't any.

In connection, I would like to see a day celebrating the women's suffrage movement.  Didn't those leaders do almost as much for women (if not more) as MLK Jr did for blacks?

always treat you right and is very romantic. He
will do anything for you. He is very polite and
has deep brown eyes and is very good looking
(which is another plus!). He can make anything
cheesy look really good (like sliding down
stairs on a shield shooting arrows or wearing
    pointy ears for example). Congrats!!

Which male celebrity are you going to marry? (10 results that have pics!)

  • Saw Matt Lauer (about the LEAST culturally literate on the the show) talking about Blogs on the Today Show today.  They kept refering to teenagers using it.  That's funny to me, becuase nearly all my readers and blogs I read are adults.  Hehe

This is the Today Show version of the article.

Here is the New York Times, full version, you may have to subscribe, but it is free.

  • Please don't think me racist, ignorant, or a bigot, but I have an issue with the Presidential debate the other night.

I didn't watch it.  I only heard what was reported on CNN radio.  I wish I had seen it.  Now.

Rev. Sharpton jumped on Dean (my former Governor) for his "white cabinet."  Now I understand that this debate was for the minorities (I don't really know what that means, but that's what they said on CNN), so this was a pertinant point,but....

    VERMONT IS 96.8% WHITE!  White: 589,208 (96.8%); Black: 3,063 (0.5%); American Indian: 2,420 (0.4%); Asian: 5,217 (0.9%); Other race: 1,443 (0.2%); Two or more races: 7,335 (1.2%); Hispanic/Latino: 5,504 (0.9%). informationplease.com

I don't think it is okay to put people on your cabinet (or in your college, or on your board...) becuase of the color of their skin. There are 6 people on the Vermont Cabinet, that means if they were representative of the state, 5.916 would be white.

Okay, that's what I had to say.
