  • Did you watch the Oscars last night?  I did.  Most of them any way.  You know they wouldn't go so long if they didn't have all the dumb filler.  What was up with Billy reading people's minds?  And the touching, but really long montages of Bob Hope and Katherine Hepburn?  I didn't see any of those dumb "tributes to songs that never won" kind of things, but wouldn't we rather hear the acceptance speeches?

I was happy for all the people who won, but actually, we didn't see any of the movies, except T saw LotR.  My favorite part of the night was when the actual musicians performing the nominated songs.  I love that Alison KraussTwo nominated songs.  She didn't win, but we all knew LotR would.

I guess I don't really have anything else to say about the awards.

  • Yesterday T and I did something fun.  We went swimming.  Our friend and her 2 kids (the munchkins) got a hotel room at a local hotel with a pool, and we went and hung out with them (she went to a concert).  The room with the pool was at least 85 degrees and the pool was about that too.  So much better than most hotel pool experiences.  We went swimming, then to dinner at Friendly's and then swimming again.  What a fun way to end a winter vacation!  After swimming for TOO long we watched the Oscars, which the kids hated, but I didn't care.

  • Prometheus's Xanga Site - 2/16/2004 10:01:57 PM This interesting blog made me think about one of my father's favorite stories about me.

{Back story} My father is a HUGE republican.  I have even heard him called a "staunch republican."  He is also very politically active.  I have met many presidential candidates, been to republican dinners, met all the governors in VT in my lifetime (only 1 republican, but still).  We even had Sen. Jim Jeffords take a nap on our couch, before he "turned coat" (as my dad says).

{Actual story}We went to Montpelier (or Mount Pecuiliar) the state capitol of Vermont.  We were at the state house and we got to talk to the governor.  Her name (is) was Madiline Kunin, and she is a Democrat.  She invited us into her office and looked at me and said "Do you want a picture with the governor?"  and I said, all 10 years old of me, "No."  My dad thinks this is hysterical.  I mean who wouldn't want a picture with the governor of their state?  Uh, a republican's daughter in a democratic state.  Needless to say, we had the picture.  I don't know where it is, so I will share this one with you instead.

Every year (for the last 2) our town has had a "Heifer Stroll."  This past year it rained.  But a lot of people still turned out, including Governor Jim Douglas, one of our Senators (Patrick Leahy) and the Executive Director of the Vermont Lottery (Alan Yandow).  We got pictures with all of them.

  • i decided to try a new profile pic.  i look a little demonic.  this is me last winter cleaning off cars at 6:30 in the morning.

  • i have all this stuff i want to write about, but I am too darn lazy to do it.  i just can't find a way to express myself.

i want the snow to go away!

  • t and i just finished a 2 weekend run of a show called Spike Heels.  my DH was a smarmy lawyer.  it was great.  last night he and i hosted the cast party at our little home.  it was clean and decorated.  we had plenty of food and drink (some left over!).  and everyone had a great time (until after midnight even).

i feel so good about being able to host a party for a dozen people.

  • Do I have the best husband or what?

  • today we ahve more adults out than kids, but i am not doing recess again. it can be someone else's turn.
yesterday we had a shower for our guidence counselor. she is having a baby next month and won't be coming back. i will miss her. she has only been here since last year and we have become good friends. sadly, she lives about 40 minutes away (that's far in New England) and we probably won't see each other much.
t and i are working on a show. we don't get home till 10:30 each night. i am so tired! but...it is only 8 more nights (rehearsal, 3 performances, run through, 3 performances). it is pretty funny. i have been getting a lot of work done during the scenes. i am just moving set and props. i am planned (mostly) from February break through April break.
    later...

  • i did first and second grade recess duty yesterday and today. we have several para-educators out sick, so we needed coverage. it was a nice day (a little cold, but i brought a hat today. the kids are good and there weren't too many problems (although the para i was on duty with is a problem). i am just glad i don't have to do it every day.
