January 31, 2004

  • I started "doing" FLYLady in August.  One of my friends from college does  "Circle of Friends" letter to help about 35 of us keep in touch.  We share what we have been up to in our lives.  One of the girls told us about FLYLady and CHAOS, it was as the FLYLady calls it a God Breeze".  This letter was written for me.  And thus I began.

And almost as quickly school started and I stopped.  I am as they say a payroll SHE, and my job takes over my life.  So at Christmas break I went crazy.  I cleaned and flinged and was amazed at the results.  I haven't been so good about following my routines for the last week or so, but my house still looks presentable.

Next week it is my turn to host the Wellness Week, with my partner and another team.  Wellness is the VEHI's way of keeping VT teachers active during the winter.  So each team at my school hosts a week to promote wellness.  I suggested the FLYLady's theme of Less is More in 2004.  And they went for it. So we are doing a week of organization, stress free activities and things that make our life easier.  I am very excited to be spreading the word of the FLYLady (it really does sound like a cult doesn't it.)

We will have a bulletin board of Less is More in 2004 things people want to have less of (debt, weight, stress) this year.  A home 27 fling boogie table, a super fling boogie of our classrooms, easy foods (prepackaged lunchbox snacks, individually wrapped candies, crock pot cooking) to have on hand, and print outs from the FLYLady page.  I am also going to bring in my home control journal and the start of my Tech Lab control journal.

I am so excited to be doing this.  I work with a lot of BOs, but mostly I think we are SHEs.  Anyone who has ever been in an elementary school (as an adult) knows teachers save everything for someday.  The difference between a BO teacher and a SHE teacher is the BO can find it the moment she needs it and the SHE teacher needs to start looking a week in advance.  I have started being more organized in my classroom, the problem is, sometimes I look in the wrong place for the item I need.  I put it in a "too safe" place.

  •  I visited the Flylady site.  I am definitely a SHE teacher.  Organization is not my strong suit.

  • Kudos to you for being able to change your organzational level. I have visited the Flylady site before, but I am one that HATES to be tied down to a routine. TG I don't have to diet!

I'll think of you tomorrow during the game. Should be a good one! *hugs*
